Police rescued two brothers from Cox’s Bazar’s Kolatoli area around 10:30pm on Tuesday and, after verification, handed them over to their family.

The rescued students are Shahidul Islam, 13, and Shofikul Islam, 11, both fifth‑graders at Thaingkhali Dakhil Madrasa. They are sons of Shah Alam, a resident of Ward No. 4 in Palongkhali union.

Law enforcement agencies launched an investigation immediately, gathering information and searching multiple locations. After a month of continuous efforts, police located and rescued the boys safely on Tuesday night.

He added that investigators are working to determine who abducted the boys, where they were kept, and the motive.

Cox’s Bazar District Superintendent of Police ANM Sajedur Rahman said, “By rescuing and reuniting Shofikul and Shahidul with their father, Ukhiya Police and Cox’s Bazar District Police have demonstrated professionalism. This has strengthened public trust. Legal and intelligence operations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved.”

Shah Alam, the children’s father, said, “Reuniting with my children after a month is our greatest comfort. We still do not know where they were kept or why they were abducted. We want the police to uncover the truth swiftly and bring those responsible to justice.”

Police officials said further progress in the investigation would help identify the masterminds behind the abduction and reveal the full details and motive.
