Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Narayanganj, has seized 87,390 kg of yarn without tax invoices following a drive at an unregistered warehouse in Tanbazar, Narayanganj.
The estimated market value of the seized yarn is Tk3.20 crore.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) disclosed the information in a press release on Monday.
According to the NBR, the raid was carried out at around 11am at a warehouse belonging to SR Trade in Jimkhana area of Tanbazar under Narayanganj Sadar Upazila.
During the operation, 77,390 kg of polyester and nylon yarn manufactured in China, Malaysia, and Vietnam were recovered. In addition, 10,000 kg of local yarn lacking tax invoices were seized.
The NBR said the warehouse, owned by Rajib Saha, proprietor of SR Trade, is unregistered. Legal proceedings have already been initiated to collect the applicable revenue against the seized yarn.
