Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal has approached the Bangladesh government to help facilitate India’s proposed September white-ball tour, as the board continues to await official confirmation from the BCCI.
The BCB has requested government-level communication with India to support plans for the six-match series. The proposed tour includes three ODIs and three T20Is.
The series was originally scheduled for August last year. However, both boards postponed it because of political unrest in Bangladesh.
Tamim said the BCB remains in regular contact with the BCCI. He added that the board is doing everything possible to bring India to Bangladesh.
“Unfortunately, I have no update on the India series,” Tamim told reporters on Thursday.
“We are in constant communication with the BCCI. Our board members are also exchanging emails, and we are trying from every direction.”
He also stressed that Bangladesh is ready to host the matches.
“The excitement around an India series is different for everyone, from supporters to journalists. Bangladesh is a very safe country, and I hope India will come. We are doing everything we can from our side,” Tamim said.
The latest move takes the matter beyond cricket administration. The BCB has now sought assistance from the Bangladesh government to help progress discussions with Indian authorities.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh recently reshaped its white-ball leadership. Litton Das now captains both the ODI and T20I teams after replacing Mehidy Hasan Miraz as one-day skipper.
Tamim said the board preferred separate captains for white-ball and red-ball cricket. Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue to lead the Test side.
The proposed India tour remains one of Bangladesh’s biggest fixtures before next year’s ODI World Cup. However, the BCB is still waiting for formal confirmation from the Indian board before finalising the schedule.
