Fans of Adventure Time will soon have another chance to explore the Land of Ooo as the franchise prepares to launch its official tabletop role-playing game. ScreenRant reported that the long-awaited project is now in its final stages of production.
Since its debut on Cartoon Network in 2010, Adventure Time has grown into one of animation’s most influential franchises. The series built a devoted global following through its surreal humour, imaginative world and the adventures of Finn and Jake. Although known for its comedy, the show also earned praise for tackling themes such as growing up and grief.
The franchise has continued to expand through spin-offs including Distant Lands and the more mature Fionna and Cake, which returned for its second season in 2025. More recently, Adventure Time: Side Quests revisited Finn’s childhood with standalone stories, while an upcoming feature film and the preschool series Heyo BMO remain in development.
The latest addition is Adventure Time: The Roleplaying Game, developed by Cryptozoic Entertainment. The project became one of the most successful licensed tabletop RPG crowdfunding campaigns in recent years, raising more than $1.63 million from over 7,600 backers after launching on Kickstarter in April 2024.
Built on a streamlined 5E ruleset, the game allows players to create original characters and explore the Land of Ooo alongside familiar locations, creatures and characters from the animated series. The Kickstarter campaign included the core rulebook, an introductory guide narrated by Jake the Dog, a campaign book, custom dice, miniatures, maps and several stretch-goal rewards.
Development took longer than originally expected because of the extensive writing, artwork, editing and licensing approvals required. Cryptozoic has provided regular production updates throughout the process.
Earlier this year, the publisher confirmed that the complete product line had been sent to the printer. A production update released in June said the company was reviewing factory proofs and approving final samples as manufacturing continued.
Physical copies have not yet reached backers, with fulfilment still in the production stage. However, current updates suggest delivery is likely only weeks away rather than months. Cryptozoic has not announced a firm release date, but the publisher expects rewards to arrive later in 2026 if production continues as planned.
The company has also not confirmed a standalone retail launch beyond its existing BackerKit pre-order campaign. Wider retail availability is expected to be announced after Kickstarter fulfilment is completed.
