Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of social media platform Truth Social, is set to launch a premium service providing Wall Street firms with high-speed access to its most influential posts.
The new commercial data feed, titled Truth API, is scheduled for launch on 1 August. The service promises to deliver instant updates from key accounts to paying institutional clients in “milliseconds”, reports BBC.
Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the system will send posts directly to clients, replacing the manual monitoring currently required by banks and traders.
Kevin McGurn, the interim boss of Trump Media, stated that the service is intended to create a steady profit for the firm, which is currently loss-making.
“Markets already move on Truth Social posts,” McGurn noted, adding that the company intends to block firms that have been copying data without permission for months, forcing them to subscribe to the official feed.
The service is primarily aimed at financial traders seeking early access to market-moving news. US President Donald Trump, who currently holds the most followers on the platform, often triggers sudden swings in global markets with posts concerning trade and tariffs.
For these firms, a delay of even seconds in receiving such information can prove costly.
The move has highlighted a unique overlap between the president’s public role and his private business interests. As his family remains the majority shareholder in the company, the president stands to profit directly from the sale of expedited access to his own public statements.
Mark Spiegel, an investment expert from Stanphyl Capital Management, described the potential inclusion of the president’s posts in a paid feature as “unprecedented”. He noted that while companies trading on headlines would be at a “disadvantage” if they did not pay for the feed, President Trump’s posts still constitute “just a tiny fraction of what moves markets”.
The BBC has contacted both the White House and Trump Media for comment regarding whether the president’s specific posts will be included in the paid service.
