American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) participated as an official sponsor and delegate institution at the QS Africa Forum 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, strengthening Bangladesh’s presence in global higher education discussions.
The two-day forum, held on 9–10 July at Sheraton Addis under the theme “Skills, Systems & Sustainable Futures”, brought together vice-chancellors, ministers, policymakers and higher education leaders to discuss talent retention, academic mobility, artificial intelligence and equitable access, AIUB said in a press release.
AIUB was represented at the forum by a delegation comprising Ishtiaque Abedin, Founder Member of the Board of Trustees; Professor Khandaker Tabin Hasan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology; and Abu Mia Akand Tuhin, Head of Public Relations.
During the event, AIUB signed several memoranda of understanding with partner universities to establish collaborations in joint research, student exchange and faculty exchange programmes.
The agreements were signed on behalf of AIUB by Ishtiaque Abedin and Professor Khandaker Tabin Hasan, creating opportunities for cross-continental academic cooperation and supporting the university’s focus on internationalisation and research excellence.
“Our presence in Addis Ababa reflects AIUB’s conviction that Bangladeshi higher education belongs on the global stage,” Ishtiaque Abedin said.
He also held a series of meetings with senior QS officials to advance preparations for the upcoming QS Bangladesh Forum, which will be jointly organised by AIUB, the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB).
The proposed forum aims to improve the global ranking performance and international visibility of Bangladeshi universities while connecting local institutions with international best practices.
