Jamuna Bank PLC has launched a month-long entrepreneurship development training programme at the BRAC Learning Centre, Gachhpara, Pabna, under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP), aimed at strengthening the capacity of new and existing entrepreneurs through business skills development and financial access.
The 100-hour programme is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), managed by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance and supervised by the SME & Special Programs Department of Bangladesh Bank. The initiative seeks to provide participants with practical business knowledge, entrepreneurial skills and support to access formal banking services.
Jamuna Bank PLC said in a press release that the training is designed to enhance entrepreneurial capabilities and help participants develop the skills required for effective business management and sustainable growth.
The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Nur Mohammed, Deputy Managing Director of Jamuna Bank PLC. Professor Dr Md Amirul Islam from the Department of Business Administration at Pabna University of Science and Technology attended the event as chief guest and formally inaugurated the programme.
Special guests at the event included Md Ayub Ali, Joint Director and Deputy Project Director (DPD) of the SME & Special Programs Department at Bangladesh Bank Head Office; Fazlul Haque, Zonal Head, Rajshahi Region, Jamuna Bank PLC; and N H M Nusrat, Head of SME (Marketing), Jamuna Bank PLC.
Implemented under SICIP with support from ADB and the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance, the programme aims to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity through structured training while improving access to credit facilities for business expansion.
Participants will receive guidance on essential business management skills, knowledge and motivation needed to operate enterprises effectively. The programme also aims to bring entrepreneurs under formal banking services and encourage wider financial inclusion.
Senior officials from Bangladesh Bank and Jamuna Bank PLC, along with emerging entrepreneurs from Pabna, attended the inauguration ceremony.
The guests expressed optimism that the initiative would contribute to developing local entrepreneurship, expanding financial inclusion and supporting sustainable economic development in the region.
