Dhaka will host what organisers claim will be South Asia’s largest discount festival in December, bringing together 250 local and international brands in a bid to boost retail sales and expand market access.
The three-day Dhaka Discount Fest 2026 will be held from 10-12 December at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Agargaon, organisers announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
According to the organisers, shoppers will receive discounts of up to 75 per cent, alongside flash sales and limited-time promotional offers on selected products and services.
The festival aims to create a single platform where consumers can buy discounted products from leading domestic and overseas brands, while businesses strengthen customer engagement, expand market reach and build corporate partnerships.
Organisers said brands from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and several other Asian and European countries are expected to participate.
Project Director Dr Md Taslim Amin Shovon said the festival is intended to strengthen links between brands and consumers while supporting the development of Bangladesh’s retail sector.
Head of Operations Shafiqul Islam said the event is the first initiative of its kind in Bangladesh and is expected to create new opportunities for retail growth, brand promotion and customer acquisition.
The festival will also provide a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their products to consumers, corporate buyers, distributors and business partners, organisers said.
Businesses booking exhibition stalls by 16 July will receive a 50 per cent early-bird discount.
Organisers said they plan to make the festival an annual event before expanding it to Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna from next year, with a longer-term ambition to take the event overseas.
