The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 2,294 cases against traffic rule violators during a drive conducted across different parts of the capital on Monday.
According to the DMP Traffic Division, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 107 cases, including against 10 buses, one truck, five covered vans, 13 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 34 motorcycles.
The Traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 224 cases involving 17 buses, 14 trucks, one covered van, 29 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 124 motorcycles. The Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 422 cases against 13 buses, three trucks, 19 covered vans, 96 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 214 motorcycles. The Traffic-Wari Division filed 169 cases involving 13 buses, 21 trucks, 16 covered vans, 18 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 53 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, the Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 270 cases against 15 buses, six trucks, eight covered vans, 58 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 132 motorcycles. The Traffic-Mirpur Division filed the highest number of cases, 523, involving 13 buses, 6 trucks, 23 covered vans, 84 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 327 motorcycles.
The Traffic-Uttara Division filed 375 cases against 27 buses, one truck, 21 covered vans, 86 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 145 motorcycles. The Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 204 cases involving 29 buses, 10 covered vans, 36 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 60 motorcycles.
During the drive, authorities also impounded 510 vehicles and towed away 343 others.
The operation was carried out by the DMP Traffic Division across various parts of the capital on Monday, 29 June.
The DMP said its traffic enforcement drives will continue to maintain discipline on the roads across the Dhaka metropolitan area.
