Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has ordered police to maintain maximum vigilance in upholding law and order and preventing crime, with a particular focus on arresting drug traffickers, extortionists, muggers, and other criminals.
The commissioner issued the directives on Wednesday during the monthly crime review meeting for May 2026 at DMP Headquarters.
The DMP commissioner instructed officers to conduct operations to recover drugs and arrest wanted accused in their respective police station areas. He also directed that police stations be kept free from intermediaries and that everyone remain vigilant to prevent crime in their areas.
“Rewards will be given as recognition for good work,” the commissioner said. “On the other hand, strict action will be taken against negligence in duty, breach of discipline, or any activity that tarnishes the image of the police.”
Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam called for coordinated duty performance to ensure the smooth implementation of all programmes for the upcoming holy Ashura.
“Vigilant attention must be paid so that no one can create disorder or deteriorate law and order,” he said.
At the meeting, the DMP commissioner awarded officers of various ranks for their commendable work in maintaining law and order, controlling crime, and ensuring public safety in Dhaka during May.
Senior DMP officials, including additional police commissioners, joint commissioners, deputy commissioners, and officers-in-charge of all police stations, were present at the meeting.
