A seven-member delegation from the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) is participating in the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in Shanghai, China, from June 12 to 21, while also taking part in the Belt and Road Film Week from June 16 to 20.
The delegation is attending as distinguished guests of the festival’s organising committee, reflecting DIFF’s continued engagement with major international film platforms and its growing role in global cinematic collaboration.
The delegation is led by Festival Director Ahmed Muztaba Zamal and includes Festival Executive Committee Member and Rainbow Film Society Secretary General Baishaki Somadder, Jannatul Ferdous Shanta, Shourob Ahammod, Nagma Khanam, Sifat Ahmed and Rafiul Islam.
DIFF expressed its gratitude to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Dhaka for its support in facilitating the delegation’s participation. According to the festival organisers, the embassy played a key coordinating role in communication between DIFF and SIFF and has also supported previous editions of the Dhaka International Film Festival.
The organisers said the ongoing cooperation reflects a growing cultural partnership between the two sides, with both institutions committed to strengthening bilateral cultural exchange in the future.
The Belt and Road Film Week, held under the theme “Shared Screens, Shared Worlds”, is an initiative of the Belt and Road Film Festival Alliance. The programme brings together filmmakers and cultural representatives from participating countries to encourage cooperation and creative exchange.
As an active member of the alliance, DIFF is contributing to the platform, which aims to promote international dialogue through cinema.
The Shanghai International Film Festival, accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), remains China’s only A-list film festival and is regarded as one of Asia’s leading cultural and industry events. The festival is recognised for supporting international exchange and emerging voices in world cinema.
