City Bank approves 30% dividend after record Tk1,324cr profit

City Bank shareholders approved a 15 per cent cash dividend and 15 per cent stock dividend at the bank’s 43rd annual general meeting (AGM) held virtually on Sunday.

The approval followed a record consolidated profit after tax of Tk1,324 crore in 2025, up 31 per cent from the previous year, alongside a 23 per cent increase in deposits to Tk63,170 crore.

Presiding over the AGM, City Bank Chairman Hossain Khaled said the bank maintained strong performance despite global and domestic uncertainties through disciplined governance, strong risk management and a long-term strategic focus.

He said the bank continued to strengthen its balance sheet, accelerate digital transformation and support businesses and communities across Bangladesh.

“Despite global and domestic uncertainties, City Bank remained resilient through disciplined governance, strong risk management and a long-term strategic focus,” Hossain Khaled said, adding that the bank remains committed to sustainable growth, maintaining customer trust and contributing to the country’s economic progress.

Shareholders made various observations and suggestions on the bank’s performance and future prospects during the meeting.

Responding to shareholders’ questions, City Bank CEO Mashrur Arefin said the lender achieved record financial performance in 2025, driven by disciplined growth, strong customer trust and continued business momentum.

He said the bank would continue focusing on digital transformation, customer engagement and responsible banking practices to deliver sustainable value.

“With improving macroeconomic conditions and renewed business confidence, the bank is well-positioned to sustain growth and contribute meaningfully to Bangladesh’s evolving financial landscape,” Mashrur Arefin said.

The AGM was attended by City Bank Vice Chairman Rubel Aziz, directors Aziz Al Kaiser, Rajibul Huq Chowdhury, Syeda Shaireen Aziz, Rebecca Brosnan and Syed Raihan Hasan Ali, independent directors Matiul Islam Nowshad and Nazimuddin Chowdhury, Company Secretary Md Kafi Khan, shareholders and senior officials of the bank.
