Capcom announced at Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles on Friday that ‘Resident Evil: Veronica’, a remake of the 2000 survival horror title ‘Resident Evil – Code: Veronica’, will be released in 2027.

The original game took place three months after the events of ‘Resident Evil 2’ and concurrently with ‘Resident Evil 3: Nemesis’. It followed siblings Claire and Chris Redfield as they attempted to survive a viral outbreak on a remote prison island in the Southern Ocean and at a research facility in Antarctica.

According to Capcom, ‘Resident Evil: Veronica’ will revisit the classic entry in the long-running franchise while seeking to reimagine the experience for a new generation of players.

The remake was one of the major announcements during Friday’s Summer Game Fest presentation at the Dolby Theatre. It appeared alongside other high-profile reveals, including Paramount Games Studio’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin’.

Capcom’s most recent entry in the series was ‘Resident Evil Requiem’, the franchise’s ninth mainline instalment. Released in February, the game followed FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft as she investigated a series of mysterious deaths linked to survivors of the Raccoon City incident, with assistance from returning character Leon S Kennedy.
