Grameenphone has appointed Andreas Høgberg as Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer (CSTO) as the telecom operator advances its five-year business transformation plan amid rapid shifts in digital and data-driven services.
The appointment took effect on 1 June, with Andreas set to oversee Grameenphone’s strategic transformation agenda focused on innovation, operational efficiency and long-term growth, the company said in a press release.
In the new role, he will lead execution of strategic priorities aimed at strengthening the company’s competitiveness and preparing the organisation for future market changes as Grameenphone expands its position as a digital telecommunications and technology service provider.
Andreas brings more than 21 years of experience within the Telenor group across the Nordic region, South Asia and Southeast Asia in finance, technology and shared services.
He most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Telenor Pakistan from June 2023 to December 2025 and currently remains a board member of Telenor Procurement Company.
During his career, he also held senior leadership roles supporting Grameenphone, Telenor Pakistan and Telenor Myanmar.
He previously served as Vice President of Technology and Services, where he led global investment prioritisation initiatives across the Telenor group.
Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman said the company was operating in a rapidly changing telecom market increasingly shaped by digital and artificial intelligence-driven services.
“The Bangladeshi telecom market presents both complexity and opportunity, from a dynamic regulatory landscape to the potential growth of data, digital, Internet of Things, business-to-business and security services,” Yasir Azman said.
“We are at the crossroads of uplifting our strategic perspectives while industry is going through the changes. Transformation is paramount in the era of artificial intelligence,” he added.
Yasir said Andreas’s experience in strategic leadership would support the company’s transition while strengthening its position in a competitive market.
Andreas said Grameenphone’s market position and digital capabilities created opportunities to accelerate sustainable growth.
“My focus will be on aligning strategy with disciplined execution, deepening our focus on customers and shaping solutions that enrich their digital lives while delivering long-term value for shareholders,” Andreas said.
He added that he looked forward to working with the board and employees to help build a future-ready organisation.
According to the company statement, Andreas studied at the Norwegian School of Economics and completed executive education programmes at IMD, INSEAD and the Stockholm School of Economics.
