BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has called on India to halt the daily push-in of Bengali-speaking Indians into Bangladesh through the border and instead “push back” Sheikh Hasina.

He made the demand during a citizens’ rally in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Thursday.

The rally was organised by a group called “Save the Country, Save the People Movement.”

Addressing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, “Do not illegally send your citizens into Bangladesh. Instead, push back those Bangladeshi citizens who have fled to your country after embezzling money. Also, push back the autocrat Hasina, whom you have been illegally sheltering with hospitality.”

Warning India to stop the push-in, he added, “End this unjust push-in. Just because someone speaks Bengali, they are being pushed into Bangladesh. Once the people of Bangladesh rise, they will not tolerate this injustice by India.”

On the Teesta water-sharing issue, he said, “India has only made promises but has not signed any agreement. For over five decades, India has spoken of friendship, and while Bangladesh considers India a friend, India has never acted like one in practical matters.”

Other speakers at the rally included BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Habibur Rahman Habib, Labor Party Chairman Lion Faruq Rahman, Krishak Dal Office Secretary SK Sadi, organising committee President KM Rokibul Islam Ripon, and General Secretary Jewel, among others.
