The body of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was found hanging inside the Bogura Police Lines on Friday morning.
The deceased Md Ariful Islam, 38, served in the district police’s radio unit.
Preliminary police reports indicate that ASI Ariful is believed to have taken his own life by hanging sometime between 1:30am Thursday and 8am on Friday.
He was the son of Md Ashraf of Padmabil Ghoria in Nalhati, Natore, and is survived by his wife and two children.
According to police sources, the incident occurred within the radio unit overnight.
Upon receiving the news, Bogura Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud, along with senior officials, visited the scene.
Md Atowar Rahman, additional superintendent of police and media spokesperson for Bogura district police, said the body has been sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
He further noted that a formal investigation has been launched to confirm whether the death was a suicide or if other factors were involved.
