Embassy of China in Bangladesh on Wednesday urged Bangladeshi citizens seeking Chinese visas to remain alert against fraud, saying it has not authorised any exclusive visa agency or partnered with any private service provider.

In a notification, the Embassy said it remains committed to providing efficient and quality visa services for Bangladeshi citizens and will continue introducing measures to facilitate people-to-people exchanges between China and Bangladesh.

The mission said legal action would be taken against any institution or individual falsely claiming to represent the Embassy for commercial visa processing activities.

According to the Embassy, it recently identified irregularities involving some travel agencies handling Chinese visa applications. These included submitting forged documents, concealing service charges, exaggerating difficulties in obtaining visas, delaying processing, spreading false information and misleading applicants.

It said such activities have disrupted the visa processing system and harmed applicants’ interests.

To improve oversight of visa processing services, the Embassy announced that from 5 July 2026, all local travel agencies in Bangladesh processing Chinese visa applications on behalf of clients must obtain accreditation from International Air Transport Association.

The Embassy clarified that no agency would receive preferential treatment or relaxed screening standards during the visa assessment process.

Applicants were advised to submit visa applications independently with complete documents through the official website of the Chinese Visa Application Service Center instead of relying on travel agencies.
