Police detained two young men and seized a large quantity of Indian cosmetics during an operation in the border-adjacent area of Kalmakanda, Netrokona.
Kalmakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Siddique Hossain confirmed the matter on Wednesday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Nasim, 25 and Munir Mia, 21.
According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a suspicious pickup truck and a search led to the discovery of 18 sacks filled with Indian cosmetics.
The seized items included shampoo, olive oil, and various other beauty products. Alongside the recovered goods, a pickup truck used to transport the contraband was also seized.
During primary interrogation, the detainees informed that a man named Jasim had been following the pickup on a motorcycle and had identified himself as the owner of the goods. However, upon sensing the police presence, he managed to flee.
OC Siddiq said efforts to catch the fugitive are ongoing. A case under the Special Powers Act is being processed regarding the incident.
