The District Intelligence Branch (DB) of police has arrested a man on charges of raping his five-year-old stepdaughter in the Singair upazila of Manikganj.
The arrestee, identified as Moti Bepari, 44, was apprehended on Tuesday from the Deoghata area under the Mirzapur Police Station in Tangail district. The operation was conducted using information technology.
Manabendra Balo, the Incharge of the Manikganj District Intelligence Branch, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday. He stated that the victim’s mother had filed a case against her husband at the Singair Police Station on 4 May.
According to the case statement, Moti Bepari married the victim’s mother approximately five years ago while she was pregnant. The incident of abuse reportedly occurred at around 11:30pm on May 1, when Moti took advantage of an opportunity to rape the child.
The mother discovered the assault the following morning after the child became severely ill due to excessive bleeding. The victim was initially taken to the Singair Upazila Health Complex.
As her condition deteriorated, she was subsequently transferred to Manikganj District Hospital, where she is currently undergoing medical treatment.
