All additional secretaries and officials of equivalent rank in government and state-owned entities have been instructed to travel in economy class during official foreign visits as part of austerity measures.

The Finance Division issued a notice following a directive from the Prime Minister’s Office dated 29 April 2026.

The move aims to curb expenditure and ensure prudent use of public funds, the Finance Division said.

Previously, officials of additional secretary rank and above were allowed to travel in higher classes, including business or executive class, during official tours.

The directive will remain in force until further notice.
