Iran has presented Washington with a fresh proposal aimed at securing an agreement on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and bringing the conflict to an end, reports Axios.
Citing a US official and two sources familiar with the matter, the outlet said Tehran’s proposal suggests that “nuclear negotiations postponed for a later stage”.
According to the report, Iran conveyed the offer through mediators in Pakistan.
However, Axios noted that striking a deal on reopening the waterway and lifting the US blockade on Iranian ports could leave Donald Trump “with no real leverage in order to get Tehran to give up on its stockpile of enriched uranium, and commit to a suspension of uranium enrichment for at least a decade”.
