Bangladesh women’s team have reached Chattogram as they begin their bid for a third straight SAFF Women’s Championship title. The two-time champions have started a focused training camp at the Korean EPZ.
The draw for the SAFF Women’s Championship took place earlier this week. On Friday, the players travelled to Chattogram to begin their preparations for the tournament.
Before the trip, the Bangladesh Football Federation applied for Indian visas for Rituparna Chakma and the rest of the squad. The team plans to hold a camp or play warm-up matches abroad before going to India. That is why they are arranging the visas early. The team usually travels by air, but this time they went to Chattogram by bus.
More than 50 players are part of the BFF camp. Head coach Peter Butler has taken only the senior players to Chattogram. He is working with conditioning coach Lord Maclaren and goalkeeping coach Masud Hasan Ujjal. In Dhaka, Mahbubur Rahman Litu is training the under-20 group.
Bangladesh won the last two SAFF titles under captain Sabina Khatun. This time she is not in the camp. The coach has also left out Masura Parvin, Krishna Rani Sarkar, Sumaiya Akter and Sanjida Akter. For now, their return to the team looks unlikely.
