Bashundhara Kings and Mohammedan Sporting Club secured Federation Cup play-off spots from Group B after decisive wins on Tuesday, overturning Police FC’s position at the top and confirming qualification through superior goal difference and results.
Kings controlled their match against Police FC and won 4-1 at Kings Arena. Police missed a penalty in the first half and lost momentum, which allowed Kings to dictate play. Dorielton Gomes scored from the spot in added time before the break, then added two more goals after the interval with direct runs and aerial finishing. He completed a four-goal performance late on, while Police only managed a stoppage-time reply through Babul.
Mohammedan took control early against Arambagh and won 4-0 in Cumilla. They pressed high and kept Arambagh pinned back, which limited any build-up play. Saurav Deowan scored a hat-trick in the second half, using movement inside the box and quick finishing to convert chances. Jewel Mia opened the scoring before the break with a controlled finish from a long pass.
Both teams finished on eight points from four matches. Kings topped the group on goal difference, with Mohammedan finishing second. Police FC dropped out despite starting the day at the top.
Kings will face Brothers Union in the first qualifier. Mohammedan will play in the eliminator, with their opponent to be confirmed.
