Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman.
In a condolence message on Friday, the minister described Mahbubur Rahman as a skilled, honest and dedicated officer. He said his professionalism, sense of responsibility and integrity made significant contributions to the activities of the Commerce Ministry.
The minister added that with his untimely death, the country had lost an experienced administrator, a loss that would be difficult to fill. He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Mahbubur Rahman passed away around 6:25am on Friday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. He was 58.
He had been admitted to the hospital on April 13 after a sharp drop in blood platelet levels and was later diagnosed with malaria.
A member of the 13th BCS (Customs and Excise) cadre, Mahbubur Rahman served in various administrative roles during his career.
