Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir on Wednesday said that ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order, and delivering justice are the primary duties of a police officer.
Addressing the closing parade of the 41st cadet batch of probationary Sub-Inspectors at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, the IGP highlighted the growing challenges faced by law enforcement in the modern era.
As the chief guest, he pointed out that crime patterns are rapidly evolving globally, with technology-based crimes, cybercrime, and militancy on the rise. He stressed the importance of skill and awareness in addressing these new threats, urging the new officers to apply their training and stay updated in their field.
The IGP reminded the recruits that they were not merely starting a job but embarking on a “noble service profession,” guided by the motto “Service is Religion.” He called on the officers to stand by the public, offer assistance in emergencies, and uphold the values of justice.
“I hope you will set shining examples of professionalism, discipline, and patriotism in your duties, upholding the reputation of Bangladesh Police,” the IGP stated.
A total of 209 probationary Sub-Inspectors, including five women, participated in the parade. During the ceremony, the IGP inspected the parade, received a formal salute from the officers, and later distributed awards to those who excelled in various categories.
