A legal notice has been served on the government demanding that measles vaccinations be organised for children across Bangladesh within 24 hours. Supreme Court lawyer Ekhlas Uddin Bhuiyan sent the notice on Wednesday.
The legal notice was addressed to the health minister, health secretary, and director general of the Directorate General of Health Services.
According to the notice, children in various parts of the country have recently been falling ill or dying in hospitals due to a lack of measles vaccines. It further alleged that the relevant authorities have failed to take any measures to address this situation.
The notice stipulated that if no action is taken within the 24-hour deadline, a writ petition will be filed with the High Court in accordance with Article 102 of the Constitution of Bangladesh.
