Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 851 litres of illegally hoarded diesel from a filling station in Gazipur’s Pubail area during a joint operation with the district administration, officials said on Wednesday.
A team of the Gazipur Battalion (63 BGB) conducted the special operation around 12:10pm at “Messrs Turag Filling Station” based on secret information, with a magistrate present.
The seized diesel was being stored illegally at the filling station, according to a BGB press release.
The executive magistrate on duty imposed a fine of Tk 60,000 on the filling station authorities for the offence.
Gazipur Battalion Commander Lt Col Md Masud Al Ferdous said BGB remains vigilant in ensuring the security of the country’s energy sector and preventing illegal hoarding and smuggling.
Such operations will continue in the future, he added.
