Miley Cyrus has opened up about her past struggles with drugs and alcohol in an exclusive interview with Variety, reflecting on her journey to sobriety. The 33-year-old singer credited a “sober lens” for helping her understand and show compassion for herself.
Rising to fame as a teenager on ‘Hannah Montana’, Miley Cyrus said she was accustomed to “living at a high” and never learned how to come down. She revealed that her decision to get sober came in her mid-twenties, during the pandemic.
The singer also addressed her choice to step back from arena tours after 2014’s ‘Bangerz’ tour, explaining that being on the road for six months a year took her away from family and routine, which was not sustainable for her.
