US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that military action against Iranian power facilities will be temporarily suspended for a period of five days, following ongoing talks with Tehran.
In a statement shared via social media, Trump said he has directed the Department of Defense to “postpone any and all military strikes” on Iran’s energy and power infrastructure for the next five days, according to a report of Al Jazeera.
He added that the pause is contingent on the progress and success of ongoing discussions between the two nations.
The decision marks a temporary de-escalation amid heightened tensions, signaling the US administration’s willingness to allow diplomatic negotiations to continue before taking further military action.
