Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood has assured the public that there is no fuel shortage in the country and that supply remains uninterrupted, despite temporary pressures caused by the Eid holidays.
Speaking at a press conference at his residence on Monday afternoon, the minister said the brief disruption in fuel supply over the past two days was due to Eid-related closures.
“There is no shortage of oil in the country. Supply is continuing. Some pressure was created as operations remained closed during Eid, but this is temporary,” he said.
The minister urged consumers not to panic, noting that fuel imports have increased by about 25 percent compared to last year. “Everyone will get fuel. People are advised to purchase only according to their actual needs,” he added.
State Minister for Road Transport and Railways Habibur Rashid Habib said additional security measures would be provided at filling stations if necessary.
He also highlighted that the government has successfully controlled attempts to raise fuel prices amid public concern.
“We have addressed the fears that existed before Eid. Security was provided at fuel stations prior to Eid and will continue wherever needed,” he said.
The ministers’ statements aim to reassure the public ahead of increased demand during the holiday season.
