The Eid-ul-Fitr prayer congregation was held at the tunnel of the Bangladesh National Parliament Building (below the South Plaza) at 8am on Saturday.
Speaker of the Parliament, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, joined the congregation along with officers and employees of the Parliament Secretariat and devotees from every corner of society.
In a significant first, arrangements were made this year for women to participate in the Eid congregation. Parliament Secretariat Secretary Kaniz Maula was among those who took part in the prayers.
The overall preparations and security measures under the tunnel were completed following the Speaker’s instructions, aimed at ensuring the convenience of the worshippers and accounting for the possibility of adverse weather.
Following the prayers, dates were served to the devotees.
The congregation and sermon (Khutbah) were followed by a special Munajat (supplication) seeking the welfare, happiness, peace, and prosperity of the entire Muslim Ummah, as well as the country and the nation.
The prayers were led by Senior Imam of Parliament Secretariat Muhammad Saifullah.
After the Eid jamaat, the speaker exchanged greetings with the worshippers. The devotees also shared Eid greetings and embraced one another.
