The US military announced on Monday that six American service members have now been confirmed dead in the war with Iran, after the remains of two previously missing personnel were recovered, reports The New York Times.

US President Donald Trump described the conflict as the “last best chance” to confront Iran’s missile and nuclear threats, saying the campaign could run four to five weeks but has the capacity to continue longer.

However, he would not rule out deploying ground forces if required.

Earlier in the day, Kuwait mistakenly shot down three US F-15 fighter jets in what officials labelled a “friendly fire incident.” All crew members survived.

Meanwhile, the strikes have killed at least 11 people in Israel, and Iran’s Red Crescent reports 555 fatalities inside Iran.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense confirmed that two drones targeted the US Embassy in Riyadh, causing minor damage.
