Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Monday it has received no official signal from Pakistan about delaying the upcoming ODI tour, as speculation grows around regional tensions, with Pakistan due in Dhaka on 9 March and matches set for the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, who chairs the cricket operations committee at the Bangladesh Cricket Board, made it clear the board still waits for any formal update from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
“If this comes to a stage where they can’t travel, then we cannot do anything. But so far we haven’t received any correspondence from PCB in that regard,” Fahim said. The message sounded calm and procedural, not defensive. BCB see no reason yet to hit pause.
Pakistan remain scheduled to arrive on 9 March, with three ODIs lined up for 11, 13 and 15 March at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. From Bangladesh’s end, the wheels keep turning.
Reports in foreign media triggered the uncertainty, pointing to regional tensions that could affect travel and security. BCB have not ignored the noise, but they refuse to act on rumours alone.
Fahim stressed that preparations continue as planned. That stance matters because Bangladesh need game time badly after a long gap in ODIs.
The series feeds directly into the build-up towards the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. It would also mark Bangladesh’s return to the format since hosting West Indies last October.
Across the border, Pakistani media painted a more cautious picture. Sources told Geo Super that the tour would only proceed if the situation does not escalate into travel or security risks.
Those same reports suggested Pakistan’s selectors could shake up the squad, with youngsters possibly replacing established names. That remains speculation for now, and nothing official has emerged from PCB.
Pakistan last played ODIs in November, when they clean-swept Sri Lanka at home. That series also marked Shaheen Shah Afridi’s second stint as captain in the format, following a 2–1 win over South Africa.
