Prime Minister Tarique Rahman started official duties at the Prime Minister’s Tejgaon office for the first time since assuming office.

He was warmly received by staff and officials upon arrival.

Despite the government holiday on Saturday, the Prime Minister decided to work from the office to maintain administrative momentum, following the inter-ministerial meeting decision last Thursday.

The Prime Minister arrived at the Tejgaon office at 10:10am. He was welcomed by Chief Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

An emotional atmosphere prevailed as the Prime Minister greeted officers and staff who had served under former prime minister Khaleda Zia. He addressed many by name, drawing them close for brief exchanges. Several employees were visibly moved at meeting the nation’s Prime Minister in person.

Before commencing official duties, Prime Minister Rahman planted a Magnolia Champaca sapling in the office courtyard.

He then offered gratitude and participated in a special prayer ceremony.

Senior military and civil officials, including Defence Adviser Brig Gen (retd) AKM Shamsul Islam, were present during the proceedings.
