A cocktail exploded at the house of Mofizul Islam Munna Dhali, chairman of Eklaspur Union Parishad in Matlab North upazila of Chandpur.
The chairman said he heard a loud explosion after 11pm. He then informed neighbours and the police. Law enforcers visited the spot and recovered two chocolate bombs along with burial cloth and other items wrapped separately in polythene.
The materials were accompanied by a note threatening to kill him.
However, the chairman said he could not confirm who was behind the incident. He also serves as joint convener of the upazila unit of Swechchhasebak Dal.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Moniruzzaman Monir said police recovered the bombs and burial materials from the scene. Multiple police units are working to investigate the matter.
