Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has been defeated at his own polling centre, after casting his vote on Thursday morning at the Monipur School and College (Boys’ Branch) polling centre in Mirpur.
Shafiqur secured 560 votes under the “scale” symbol.
Meanwhile, BNP-nominated candidate Shafiqul Islam Khan received 565 votes.
A total of 1,174 votes were cast at the centre, with 27 votes being cancelled.
