A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Abdus Salam Murshedy, former Member of Parliament for the Khulna-4 constituency and former Senior Vice-President of the Bangladesh Football Federation, and his wife, Sharmin Salma.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Sunday following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), court Bench Assistant Md Riaz Hossain confirmed.
According to the ACC’s application, an inquiry is currently underway against Abdus Salam Murshedy and others regarding allegations of amassing illegal wealth worth crores of taka through various irregularities and corruption.
The commission further stated that during the course of the investigation, they received information from reliable sources that the individuals involved were attempting to flee the country.
Consequently, the ACC argued that a travel ban was essential to ensure a fair investigation.
