The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a revised price for Jet A-1 aviation fuel, which will into effect from midnight on 8 February 2026. The price adjustment follows a detailed review of international market trends and local operational costs.
According to the commission, the price of Jet A-1 for domestic flights has been fixed at Tk95.12 per litre, inclusive of customs duties and Value Added Tax (VAT). For international flights operated by both local and foreign carriers, the rate has been adjusted to $0.6257 per litre on a customs and VAT-free basis.
The price adjustment was made in accordance with Sections 34(4) and 34(6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003.
The commission held public hearings to analyse proposals submitted by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Padma Oil Company Limited (POCL).
Following a commission order issued on 13 May 2025, fuel prices are now adjusted monthly based on the international Platts Rate.
Evaluation criteria
A specialised committee, formed on 25 May 2025, submitted its report on 8 February 2026 after reviewing several key economic factors.
These included the average Platts Rate recorded between 5 January and 4 February 2026, alongside the US dollar exchange rates used for BPC’s Letter of Credit (LC) settlements during that period.
Furthermore, the committee accounted for changes in transport charges for coastal tankers and tank lorries, which fluctuate based on diesel price variations.
The commission reviewed these findings during a hearing on the same day before finalising the rates for the month of February. Details of the price re-determination have been uploaded to the BERC website, with the full order expected to follow.
