In Jhalakathi, 3,081 members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) have been trained to ensure that the 13th national parliamentary election is free and free.

They will be responsible for security at 237 polling centres across the four upazilas of Jhalakathi.

Barisal Range Commander Abdus Samad disclosed this information in his speech as the chief guest at a preparatory rally for the election of Ansar and VDP members at the Jhalakathi District Commandant’s Office ground on Saturday afternoon.

He said, “To ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election, Ansar and VDP members have undertaken long-term preparations. Through modern training systems, technology-dependent management, and integrated security strategies, this force is ready to perform election duties.”

Abdus Samad informed that Ansar-VDP members have gone through various training, screening, and preparatory activities for about one and a half years to perform their election duties. He said, “Election preparations have been completed by prioritising young members. Additionally, reserve members have also been kept ready.”

The preparatory rally was organised to ensure a clear understanding among members regarding duty distribution, coordination, and instructions before taking up responsibilities at polling centres. At the rally, it was emphasised that the professionalism, political neutrality, and the integrity of Ansar and VDP members are of utmost importance during election duties.

At the same time, senior force officers instructed members to strictly follow force instructions without succumbing to any kind of pressure or temptation while performing duties.

Also present at the rally were Jhalakathi District Commandant of Ansar & VDP Md Ismail Hossain, Sadar Upazila Officer Nirob Bishwas, Rajapur Upazila Officer Ashhalata, Kathalia Upazila Officer Saifunnahar, Nalchity Upazila Officer Suraiya Begum, along with various levels of officers and trainers of the force.
