As part of the ongoing parliamentary election campaign, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will address rallies in Barishal and Faridpur on Wednesday.
He is visiting Barishal after 20 years.
Mahadi Amin, spokesperson of BNP’s central election steering committee, said that Tarique will travel to Barishal by air and is expected to join the rally at Bell’s Park ground around 12pm.
He will leave Barishal by air around 1pm for Faridpur and will attend another rally at Rajendra College ground there. Later, he will return to Dhaka.
Tarique Rahman is likely to visit Thakurgaon on Saturday, the constituency of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, though the schedule has not yet been finalised.
Earlier, on 2 February, he attended two election rallies in Khulna and Jashore and returned to the capital in the afternoon.
So far, the BNP chief has addressed a total of 22 election rallies outside Dhaka. After Barishal and Faridpur, he will attend one more election rally in another district, which will mark the conclusion of his campaign outside Dhaka.
His election campaign began on 22 January from Sylhet. He attended rallies in seven districts: Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Kishoreganj, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi, and Narayanganj. Later, on 25 January, he went to Chattogram. From there to Dhaka, he addressed rallies in Feni, Chauddagram in Cumilla, Swaagazi, Daudkandi, and Sonargaon in Narayanganj. Afterwards, he joined three election rallies from Mymensingh to Dhaka.
Since 29 January, the BNP chairman has also attended rallies in the northern region, specifically in Rajshahi, Naogaon, Bogura, Sirajganj, and Tangail.
