The Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed a 15-member squad for the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup, with Azizul Hakim Tamim set to lead the side in the global tournament.
Pace bowler Al Fahad has returned to the squad after recovering from injury, providing a timely boost to the bowling unit. Opener Jawad Abrar has been appointed vice-captain, underlining his growing importance in the youth setup. The Bangladesh Under-19 team is scheduled to leave Dhaka on Sunday night ahead of the competition.
Al Fahad had been ruled out of the recent Under-19 Asia Cup after picking up an injury during the home series against Afghanistan. Having regained full fitness, he has been recalled for the World Cup.
With Fahad’s inclusion, only one change has been made from the Asia Cup squad. Mohammad Sabuj has been moved to the standby list, while the rest of the players from that squad have retained their places in the main group.
The standby pool also includes Abdur Rahim, Debashish Deba, Rafiuzzaman Rafi, Farhan Shahriar, Farzan Ahmed Alif and Sanzid Majumdar.
Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign on 17 January in Bulawayo against India. They will face New Zealand at the same venue on 20 January, before completing their group fixtures against the United States on 23 January.
