Two workers of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.
The accident occurred on Saturday night, and the two victims died while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, one late at night and the other on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Rabbi Hossain, 27, son of Shahjahan Ali of Joynagar village, and Nishan Munshi, 22, son of Golam Rasul Munshi of Maniknagar village, both under Salimpur union of Ishwardi.
According to police and family sources, Rabbi and Nishan were returning home on a motorcycle from Ishwardi municipal town on Saturday night.
When they reached the Alhaj Mor area, their motorcycle collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving both critically injured as the motorcycle was badly mangled.
Locals rescued them and took them to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex. As their condition deteriorated, on-duty doctors referred them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Rabbi Hossain died late at night, while Nishan Munshi succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.
Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mominuzzaman said the bodies are currently at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue. After being brought to Ishwardi, the bodies will be handed over to the families without autopsy upon application.
A case has been filed in connection with the incident, and the truck involved in the accident has been seized, the OC added.
