Sharif Hossain and Sonia Akter emerged as the standout performers at the 39th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship 2025, which concluded on 19 December at the Kurmitola Golf Course in Dhaka.
Sharif won the men’s singles title after a tight contest. He finished with a total of 300 strokes, 12 over par. Abu Bakar Siddiq also returned the same score, but Sharif claimed the title on countback. Abu Bakar finished second, while Munna Mia took third place with 14 over par.
Sonia Akter claimed the women’s singles crown with a score of 18 over par. Nasima Akter finished second after ending the tournament at 25 over par. Rinki Akter placed third with a score of 33 over par.
In the men’s team event, Bangladesh ‘C’ team became champions. Md Abdul Qader and Sharif Hossain formed the winning pair. Bangladesh ‘A’ team finished runners up, with Abu Bakar Siddiq and Shafiqul Islam.
The women’s team title went to Bangladesh Women ‘A’ team, featuring Sonia Akter and Rinki Akter. Bangladesh Women ‘B’ team, made up of Nasima Akter and Jaima Binte Hossain, finished second.
The Bangladesh Golf Federation organised the four day championship, with Vivo Bangladesh as the sponsor. The prize giving ceremony was held at Kurmitola Golf Club, where the trophies were presented by Bangladesh Army Chief and President of the Bangladesh Golf Federation, General Waker Uz Zaman.
Senior officials of the federation, representatives of the sponsor, and guests from the Ministry of Youth and Sports were present at the closing ceremony.
