National Citizen Party convener Nahid Islam has met interim government Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
The meeting took place on Thursday evening at the Chief Adviser’s official Jamuna residence where they reportedly discussed matters related to current political atmosphere.
Sources at the NCP said that Nahid Islam, a former adviser to Yunus’ cabinet, entered Jamuna around 7:00pm and had a conversation with the chief adviser.
The meeting took place at a time when the Bangladesh Nationalist Party is demanding the resignation of two advisers — Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud –along with National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman.
“To maintain the neutrality of the interim government, the advisers must be removed. Moreover, the recent statement made by the National Security Adviser has once again sparked new controversy. Therefore, to protect the image of the government, he too must be relieved of his duties,” BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain told reporters at BNP chairperson’s political office at Gulshan.
