A fire that broke out in the kitchen of a restaurant at Centrepoint Shopping Mall’s food court in Dhaka’s Airport area on Wednesday afternoon was brought under control within 20–30 minutes, with no injuries or property damage reported.
The fire was reported at around 12:45pm, and six Fire Service units from Uttara and Airport stations responded to the incident. The blaze was completely extinguished by 1:40pm.
According to the Fire Service, the fire may have originated from a fault in the restaurant’s kitchen.
The mall’s in-house operations and fire safety teams, security personnel and police coordinated the response. With firefighting equipment in place, the response was carried out efficiently, allowing Centrepoint Shopping Mall to resume normal operations within approximately three hours of the incident.
The situation is now completely normal, with mall operations continuing as usual, confirms the shopping mall authorities.
