The Bangladesh Premier League’s twelfth edition, which will stage its player auction on 30 November after three postponements, took another turn on Monday night when Noakhali Express was confirmed as the competition’s sixth franchise.
BPL officials had initially planned to proceed with only five teams, but the landscape shifted when Desh Travels acquired ownership of Noakhali Express. A team representative told Dhaka Post that confirmation arrived by email late on Monday, adding that the remaining formalities would be settled on Tuesday.
The upcoming season is expected to begin on 26 December, with the final likely to be held on 24 January. This edition will feature an auction instead of the traditional players draft.
Franchise ownership has also been reshaped elsewhere. Toggi Sports of Bashundhara Group has taken charge of Rangpur Riders, while Triangle Services now controls Chattogram Royals. Nabil Group has secured Rajshahi, Cricket With Sami will run Sylhet and Champion Sports, also known as Remark Harlan, has been awarded the Dhaka franchise.
The six confirmed teams for BPL 12 are:
Rangpur Riders
Dhaka Capitals
Sylhet Titans
Rajshahi Warriors
Chittagong Royals
Noakhali Express
