Bangladesh will compete in next month’s Under 19 Asia Cup, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in the second week of December, where the tournament is set to begin on 12 December according to information obtained from several sources.
Although the Asian Cricket Council has yet to publish an official schedule, the outline of the competition is largely in place. Five teams will qualify directly, namely Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, while three more sides will come through a regional qualifying event.
After qualifying is completed, the first and third placed teams will join India and Pakistan in Group A. The second placed qualifier will move into Group B with Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
Bangladesh are scheduled to open their campaign on 13 December against Afghanistan. Azizul Hakim Tamim’s side are then set to face the second qualifier on 15 December before finishing the group stage on 17 December against Sri Lanka.
With the competition fast approaching, the Bangladesh Under 19 squad will begin their preparation camp on Tuesday.
