A case has been filed five days after the murder of Tariq Saif Mamun in Old Dhaka on 10 November.
On Saturday, Mamun’s wife, Bilkis Akhter Ripa, lodged the case with Sutrapur Police Station, said Md Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.
However, no names were mentioned in the case. Instead, 10 to 12 unidentified persons have been accused.
Five suspects were arrested in connection with the killing on 11 November and they are currently being interrogated, police said.
Tariq Saif Mamun, a top-listed criminal, was shot dead on 10 November in front of the National Medical College Hospital in Sutrapur.
According to the case statement, Robin and Faruq shot Mamun multiple times with the intention of killing him, ensuring his death.
The two suspects were arrested the following day, on 11 November, from different areas of Dhaka by the Detective Branch (DB) Police. During preliminary interrogation, the accused admitted their involvement in the murder. They had been paid Tk2 lakh by elder brother, Rony, to carry out the murder.
Another case was later filed under the Arms Act at Mohammadpur Police Station, and the investigation officer subsequently sought remand for further questioning of the suspects.
