Bangladesh has signed an agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. The agreement was finalised in Jeddah on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone for both nations’ Hajj arrangements.
On behalf of Bangladesh, Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain signed the agreement, while Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Bin Fawzan al-Rabiah represented his country.
According to the agreement, a total of 78,500 pilgrims from Bangladesh will be allowed to perform Hajj in 2026.
Prior to the signing, Dr Hossain held discussions with Saudi Minister Dr Al-Rabiah regarding the overall Hajj management and the progress of Bangladesh’s Hajj arrangements. During the meeting, Dr Hossain also urged the Saudi Minister to enhance the management of tents in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, and to improve water supply and sanitation facilities for the pilgrims.
Dr Al-Rabiah praised Bangladesh’s recent Hajj management and assured that Saudi Arabia would provide the highest level of service to Bangladeshi pilgrims.
In addition, Dr Hossain invited the Saudi Minister to visit Bangladesh, to which Dr Al-Rabiah agreed.
The signing ceremony was attended by several prominent officials, including Religious Affairs Secretary Mohammad Kamal Uddin, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Delwar Hossain, Deputy Minister of Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Dr Hasan Manakhara, Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abdullah bin Zafar H Bin Abiyah, Additional Secretary of Hajj Division Mohammad Ayatol Islam, Consul General of Bangladesh in Jeddah Shakhawat Hossain, Joint Secretary (Hajj) Dr Manzurul Haque, and Councillor (Hajj) Mohammad Kamrul Islam.
