Liverpool denied by offside decision
Virgil van Dijk thought he had equalised nine minutes later with a powerful header from a corner, but Andy Robertson, who ducked under the ball, was deemed to have interfered with Gianluigi Donnarumma from an offside position.
Moments later, City doubled their lead as González’s shot deflected off Van Dijk to wrong-foot Mamardashvili.
Doku caps dominant display
Liverpool had chances to respond—Cody Gakpo blazed over from close range after fine work from Mohamed Salah and Bradley—but their wastefulness proved costly.
Doku capped his best performance in a City shirt with a curling strike into the top corner after cutting inside Ibrahima Konaté, making it 3-0.
Salah then missed a golden opportunity ten minutes from time, dinking wide when clean through, summing up Liverpool’s frustration.
